This is a 2013 American Afgan-war docudrama directed by Peter Berg, based on the 2007 non-fiction book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell. Set during the war in Afghanistan, the film dramatizes the unsuccessful United States Navy SEALs counter-insurgent mission Operation Red Wings, during which a four-man SEAL reconnaissance and surveillance team was tasked to track down and kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Really shocking and astounding is the re-enactment of the battles of Operation Red Wings, which is one of the most realistic depictions of the fighting. Miraculously Marcus Luttrell is saved by some Afgan villagers, who protected him out of duty to their 2,000 year old code of honor, known as Pashtunwali. It is a profoundly thought-provoking docudrama that will show you that war is no good at all no matter how good its cause is.
