I liked Snow in Summer better because of the intermingled fairy and true telling. This one was all fairy, and a reimagining of what happened at the birth of Sleeping Beauty. Since Disney had her dance with an owl in the forest, she's been my favorite fairy tale heroine, even in Anne Rice's retelling... so it was hard to have her be so awful and from such an enslaving line of spoiled royalty in this retelling. But the book was very well done, and the thirteenth fairy was a wonderful character on her own... even if her name is "Gorse"!
