Easily the best fiction book I have read in a decade, "The Book of Marvels" provides undeniable proof of a poet's mastery of language. In about 100 short prose chapters, Canadian poet Crozier extracts magic from the most mundane objects and often leaves the reader stunned. This 125-page book took me three days to read, after which I bought 6 copies for myself and friends. Anyone looking for an example of Crozier's skill should read the chapter "Bobby Pins", where -- in less than 150 words -- she transports the reader from the history of a banal object to an intense emotional experience.
