This is the second Dean Koontz novel I've ever read, with the first one being "Relentless"—which I enjoyed for a one-time read. "What The Night Knows" has several similarities, but its differences are even greater, particularly in the department of darkness. The events that occur, the murder of entire families, makes this a very dark story. With the way the antagonist "works", hopelessness started getting to me, to the point that I felt like dropping the book all-together—something I very rarely do. Yet I chose to continue reading, hoping the end would justify everything in front of it. Without spoiling anything, I'll give the book 3 of 5 stars. Entertaining, but not something I'll re-read in the future.
