This starts out with some fine fantasy, but soon morphs into pretty much a love story. Not my genre, but it's well written and the central characters are cleverly drawn. The details of the settings and the culture are only sketched, but quite compelling. This is good world building. I know that the love story (and its difficulties with prejudice) continues in this trilogy, but I'll read on in hopes there's still some more fantasy to come.
