This is referring to the Rouben Mamoulian version. For it's time, this film is an innovative accomplishment considering the technical limitations. His use of camera movement in the opening where he places the audience in the place of the characters point of view had never been done before. The acting is first rate and Frederic March won an Oscar. Miriam Hopkins is also stellar as the poor defenseless prostitute. Her scenes with Mr. Hyde are brutal and disturbing no matter what era. The neanderthal make up is dated and ugly.
