Ian Fleming’s superspy James Bond has been featured as an adult in Fleming’s 14 books, 1 book by Kingsley Amis, 14 John Gardner books, 6 Raymond Benson Books, 1 by Sebastian Faulks, 1 by Jeffery Deaver, and 1 by William Boyd. Charlie Higson’s Young Bond books, starting with SilverFin, are the back story for James Bond, following the timeline in the Fleming books. There are a lot of references to the Fleming books, including Uncle Max’s Bamford and Martin car (Bamford & Martin is now known as Aston Martin), an opening sentence that parallels the opening of Casino Royale, and an appearance by May, Bond’s Future housekeeper. The plot of the book was very interesting, but a bit more sci-fi than the Fleming books I have read (the first 3), a bit more like Sean Connery Bond than Daniel Craig Bond. Overall, it was a very good book. Followed by Blood Fever, Double Or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royale Command, as well as a short story, A Hard Man To Kill.
