A story well told, much darker than I expected, and rather depressing. Still it is well worth watching and there is some beautiful music, I would have liked more.

*** SPOILER ALERT *** Excellent comment by "maipenrai", but disagree about "the last two sentences". The confession by Helen to Martin about the fling with David does not make sense. Helen was not the type of girl to have a quick fling, let alone for money (which was then found lacking for a taxi). And if she had one, how did she get to the concert? Took a taxi and let the star of the concert take a bus (on which he slept no less)?

The level of emotion and intrigue in The Song of Names sets this film apart. I was not expecting a mystery, but there is one. This original concept WWII film is for cinema lovers,. It is for those not in a hurry and who love a top-notch musical score, a well told tale by great performers. The Special Features are worth watching; they are not long and reveal some of the genius behind the music of the film.

Well acted...a totally different angle on the many "situations" resulting from Nazi Germany's effect on world history.

Millions of stories possible relating to the millions of victims of the Nazis. This is one of those stories.
