Marlee thought she scored the man of her dreams only to be scorched by a bad breakup. But there's a new player on the horizon, and he's in a league of his own... Marlee Harper is the perfect girlfriend. She's definitely had enough practice by dating her NFL-star boyfriend for the last ten years. But when she discovers he has been tackling other women on the sly, she vows to never date an athlete again. There's just one problem: Gavin Pope, the new hotshot quarterback and a fling from the past, has Marlee in his sights. Gavin fights to show Marlee he's nothing like her ex. Unfortunately, not everyone is ready to let her escape her past. The team's wives, who never led the welcome wagon, are not happy with Marlee's return. They have only one thing on their minds: taking her down. But when the gossip makes Marlee public enemy number one, she worries about more than just her reputation. Between their own fumbles and the wicked wives, it will take a Hail Mary for Marlee and Gavin's relationship to survive the season.

Loved this series and I don’t give a damn about football. This series is funny and sexy and optimistic.

I would like to start out by saying that I honestly did not see a romance novel with a football theme being in the cards for me. I went in a skeptic, despite the endorsements by romance writers I adore. Within the first chapter, I was completely won over. Marlee Harper is the kind of protagonist you instantly wish you were best friends with, in no small part due to what a good friend she clearly is. Her relationships with her friends and family members were well fleshed out, clearly crafted with just as much care as the author put into the relationship between Marlee and Gavin–the new quarterback on the football team Marlee’s ex plays on. Which! That relationship! Whew!! Martin does a fantastic job at creating a satisfying narrative arc that is also very hot.

I'm not typically a fan of sports romances, but the two lead characters were simultaneously so real and so interesting that I just had to finish this one. Though there was perhaps not enough emphasis placed on certain aspects of life in the NFL, the situations felt true-to-life and the way the characters dealt with them was (for the most part) completely believable. My only wish is that we could have had more dimension in the secondary characters, but this is the first in a series so maybe that will come.

It's not my cup of tea, but fans of the romance genre will enjoy the tension between love interests, the female friendships, as well as the triumphs over mean-girls and the rumor mill.

Funny, a little uneven at times but definitely had some charm to it. The inside lives of NFL WAGS written by someone who was one. I could have done without the overuse of #’s!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were a lot of fun. Marlee may be little (5'2") but she was big in mouth. She didn't like confrontation but when someone went after her best friend or her man, she did not back down, even if it caused a fight to break out in the stands. There are always bitchy women who instead of supporting other women, they are jealous and try to knock those women down. That is how I saw the Mustangs wives. I'm sure there are wives like them and there are wives like Naomi. I enjoyed Marlee and Gavin's relationship. They seemed to have a fun relationship that was filled with a mutual respect. I thought the storyline flowed smoothly, the characters were engaging and I was entertained. This is a typical chick lit story. I'm just glad that Marlee wasn't kidnapped like what usually happens with couples in chick lit books. I found this a fun book that would make a great summer read. Although it doesn't come out until September so it will be a perfect read for football season. Curl up with a blanket and a hot chocolate and enjoy.

I love romance novels, but this is my first time reading something involving football and WAGS, not really that interesting to me but it was a new recommendation so I gave it a chance. It had some over the top drama, the hashtags weren't always a hit, but it was fun most of the time. Marlee was a nice lead (though she does have her moments) the cast was diverse even if at times they fell into stereotypes, the friendships between the women were great.

I do have some issues, part of which might just be that I'm not her target audience & that I'm not as interested in WAG life but boy do I love drama. Marlee could be a little overbearing.
I definitely didn't like there was not one but two scenes where Marlee is set up for a sexual assault scenario, thankfully it went not further than unwanted groping and chasing her. It felt out of place and really only there to make Gavin (her love interest) be the hero. There are other ways to show him as a hero without the near assault. I thought it was weird that they jumped into bed right after he ends a friendship. Like emotional intimacy doesn't necessarily equal sexual intimacy, I would've like to see Gavin have some vulnerability that isn't just anger then instant remorse. He just feels a bit one dimensional. I'm glad Marlee stood up for herself after what Gavin did and the book ended just as I expected it to end.
