Mehhh not worth the wait/not for everybody. I was really excited for this “meto” book giving a platform for women’s stories. And while I believe every woman’s story is worth telling, the privilege that cushions so much of these women’s lives (which is what the book spends the majority of it’s time detailing) was tiresome to me. I didn’t find the characters’ Preston Hallow/Highland park lifestyle very relatable. I didn’t feel sympathetic or particularly interested in their everyday woes, and it just made the majority of the time spent reading it feel underwhelming.

i wouldn't classify 'whisper network' as a 'thriller,' as most of the action occurs in the last third of the book. i suppose this novel is on the vanguard of a #metoo subgenre, thought provoking and timely. what happens to women who work in the fields that are traditionally bastions of male power and privilege, be it legal, banking, insurance, media...? the blow back impacts both accused and accuser when serious allegations are made.

I thought she had a knack for portraying the overwhelming conditions under which women work and the confusion that results from trying to meet everyone's demands.

I found this book choppy and lacked a professional flow. The story and topic had potential but you can tell it was the author’s first book. I felt it was a long read and it had me dozing off, I generously gave it 2 stars.

The women's issues Baker writes about have been in existence for decades and more. In this novel she bring's those unsettled matters to our present time. Yes, the equal pay, sexual harassment, breast milk pumping, cost and upkeep of the ideal female image, gender disparity, sexual harassment of young girls were written into each page almost to a fault. However, if you have one book to do it you might as well put it all in. I'd have enjoyed a bit more suspense and mystery for a balance to the one sided position she focused on. Baker created an all-to-real world that we are in the midst of changing for the better.

Really a lady's book, I think.

This is a book for working women (and mothers) in high power positions. Not really my kind of read.

This "#metoo" inspired novel will appeal to readers of Liane Moriarty with it's mystery elements and middle-aged mom lead characters. Unfortunately, it lacks the light humorous touches of Moriarty's works.

Wow! I too was hooked right away, as the previous reader mentioned. I was glued to this book, and almost missed my stop on the T. :) I actually almost didn't read it because I like to read to escape life and many other reasons....but at the last minute, i changed my mind, and so glad that I actually did read it!
