This came across as a study in acting, both in the main character's 'real life' and in her acting classes, which provide some relief for her. The acting was very good, and always capable of drawing oneself in, but in the final analysis, the movie seemed to be a study in acting, with minimal plot.

Not for action fans. Rampling with the help of the director's purposeful camera shots is forced to display her emotions, largely without much dialog to tell the audience what is going on in the depth of her character's very soul. A portrait of true alienation from society, one step at a time. rampling won the best actress award at the Venice Film Festival.
