Franklin the dragon loves stories and loves reading stories to people too, but everyone is too scared to even talk to him. One day, he meets a girl named Luna who, rather than being afraid, is fascinated to meet Franklin, having recently read all about dragons in one of her books. They instantly become friends and talk nonstop about what they've read: books about roller-skating, King Arthur, spiders, and how to do kung fu. Together they hatch a plan to share their love of books with others by opening a bookshop--a flying bookshop, that is--right on Franklin's back!

Franklin, a well-read and peace-loving dragon, and Luna, a young girl with an independent spirit and an insatiable love of reading, make fantastic role models for young children. Franklin's Flying Bookshop brings the magic of classic fairy tales into the twenty-first century through exquisite illustrations, and will enchant children as well as anyone who loves books.

What a wonderful story. How I would've loved to read it to little me.

A book about bookish dragons and bookish girls (with red hair?! like mine?!). Harnett's illustrations are lovely -- a very nice, rich colour palette with enough simple shapes to be easily translated by a young visual mind. They are detailed and yet somehow sparse, and I really enjoyed her bold use of reds and greens and blues. Her personality as an illustrator really came through.

Campbell's writing is as warm and as sweet as she is. Her near-rhymes are just what this story needs and I'd love to know her process on how long she worked this book until she liked the prose just as it was. This feels like it would be an excellent story book to read aloud, which to me, is the mark of a great picture book

Jen Campbell is one of my favorite booktubers and authors. She has created a charming and original story about a dragon named Franklin who befriends a little girl named Luna after they bond over their love of books. Illustrated by the extremely talented Katie Harnett, this is a picture book people of all ages can enjoy.
