I have really enjoyed this book. I went for the audio version as Elizabeth Gilbert as a reader is equally beautiful as her work as a writer. This book gave me a refreshing and unique perspective on my creativity. To work with it, and not force it to work for me. I think this book is a great read for anyone as it explains how to lead a life of active "creative living".

Big Magic is a mix of inspired motivational writing and relatable memoir. I felt deep connections to many parts of this book, and I firmly believe that if you want to exercise your creativity, this book can help you get into a mindset that is conducive to creation.

GREAT listen; loved her stories. They felt welcome and very applicable as I wrestle with an 18th draft of my first MG novel. She gave me the inspiration and courage to keep going, to seize the creativity within me no matter the outcome, simply because I enjoy it. Right on! I'll recommend this to all my writing partners as a must-have when doubting oneself. Right up there with William Kenower's Fearless Writing on how to live a writer's life and do it well.

Her ideas on reframing how you look at and think of your own creativity were captivating.

I don't exactly know how to describe why I liked this book... It's pretty much a practical guide to becoming a happy artist, but some of the principles and advice included can be applied to other "fields" of artistry and passion. Overall, I liked the book. I lied the straightforwardness of the writer.

Gilbert's no nonsense approach to creativity and doing whatever inspires you is equal parts memoir and get going, pep talk. Read by the author with enthusiasm and authenticity.

This book is wonderful if you spend your days wondering how to channel your inner creativity. For those that are practical and analytical, it might be hard to grasp at first. Gilbert offers an extensive list of ideas and inspiration on how to utilize your creativity and apply it in your daily life. Through hardships, sacrifices, and successes, it's a nice relatable story for creative minds. A very refreshing read. I give it 4 stars because by the last CD, she was repetitive, but at least 2/3 of the book kept me interested in hearing what Gilbert had to say.

The treasure buried within you hopes you have the courage to say yes. Whatever, is your creative urge say yes. Go make something and put it out there. Take all you are on a creative journey let it make you who you will become.

This was short, sweet, and had some wise words and great anecdotes from and for a creative life - which is not just for the privileged few.

• To even call somebody "a creative person" is almost laughably redundant; creativity is the hallmark of our species. We have the sense for it; we have the curiosity for it; we have the opposable thumbs for it; we have the rhythm for it; we have the language and the excitement and the innate connection to divinity for it.

• If you're alive, you're a creative person ... descended from tens of thousands of years of makers. Decorators, tinkerers, storytellers, dancers, explorers, fiddlers, drummers, builders, growers, problem-solvers, and embellishers--these are our common ancestors.

• This is a world not a womb…Don’t rush through the experiences and circumstances that have the most capacity to transform you. Don’t let go of your courage the moment things stop being easy or rewarding. Because that moment? That’s the moment when interesting begins.

• Do whatever brings you to life… Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.
