This is my favorite book series EVER. To everyone who hasn't read it yet- give yourself a treat and check out the first novel. Harry Potter is the perfect book for all ages and interests.

I grew up with Harry Potter and I still love these books with all my heart. I watched all the movies and I also read every book. Since the first page of this book, it had me hooked until the very last book. There are very few books and movies like this, where you can keep re-watching and re-reading them without getting bored. J.K. Rowling manages to mix magic and fantasy with everyday situations such as going to school, playing sports, and doing homework. It makes your imagination go wild as we meet goblins who run the banks, Fluffy the three headed dog, trolls, unicorns, and a dragon loving giant and much more! She introduces Harry as a slave to his Aunt and Uncle, sleeping in a closet, who returns to them at the end, as a fearless eleven year old hero. When he discovers he is a wizard, he attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft of Wizardry, where he becomes friends with Ronald Weasley, who has little money, but a wonderful family and Hermione Granger, who is a young scholar and a bookworm. J.K. Rowling should be highly praised for her masterpiece. It is a must read! 5/5 stars

One of the best books I ever read.

I grew up reading and rereading this book and the rest of the series over and over again! My sister and I would take turn reading them out loud chapter by chapter over the summers, on road trips and other school breaks. We had it down to a science knowing if we wanted to read the first chapter of a book so that we would end up with our favorite chapters later on. I think they are wonderful books for children and adults!

Interesting book. I never thought I'd be picking up this one. I now understand why the movies are such a hit. The book is a bit different. I did like this one and I feel that it will make me read more of the series of books. Thanks

What did Harry Potter know about magic? He was stuck living with the decidedly un-magical Dursleys, who hated him. He slept in a closet and ate their leftovers. But an owl messenger changes all that, with an invitation to attend the Hogwarts School for Wizards and Witches, where it turns out Harry is already famous...

The Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series where you read about his first year at Hogwarts. The novel opens with a description of the Dursley family, a middle-class family that lives in Little Whinging, Surrey. Vernon and Petunia Dursley are constantly worried that someone will find out about Petunia’s decidedly “unDursleyish” witch sister, Lily, and their worries are justified when Lily’s infant son, Harry, is left on their doorstep. Lily and her husband, James Potter, had been murdered by the dark wizard, Voldemort, but when Voldemort attempted to kill Harry, his power somehow broke. Harry becomes the only living person ever to survive the killing curse, and the only sign of his encounter with Voldemort is a unique lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. Because Harry does not have any other living relatives, Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, decides to leave him with the Dursleys until he is old enough to attend Hogwarts.
