Cash Carter, the young, world-famous lead actor of the hit television show Wiz Kids, is a favorite of the tabloids and paparazzi, who take notice of his every move. When four fans jokingly invite him on a cross-country road trip, they are shocked when he actually accepts their invitation. Getting a taste of the spotlight, this unlikely crew takes off on a journey of narrow escapes from photographers, not-so-glamorous mishaps, and surprise turns. But along the way they discover that the star they love isn't the picture-perfect person they've seen on TV. Cash Carter has secrets--big ones that no one else knows about--and they just might tear his image apart. A novel about the truth behind power, fame, and the meaning of friendship, on a hilarious, life-changing adventure across the States.--

I don't really know how to describe how I feel about this book. A lot of things were unrealistic, from Chris joining them to the sheer magnitude of the show and its fanbase. Because of this, it made me want to stop reading sometimes.
I really think I only enjoyed this book when Chris' secret is revealed. That felt real. Everything else just really felt out of place or was some history lesson from where they went to. I came to read about the plot line, not about some admittedly fake history on UFOs.
Otherwise, I found some parts of the character development good as they all come to live freely and become proud of themselves.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Even though the basic plot of the book is quite unrealistic - it is fiction, and fiction can be whatever the author would like to craft. Although I went into the book quite skeptical, highly doubting that this topic would be anything but a cheesy piece of wishful thinking written by hopeful fangirls, I came out of it fully satisfied and happy, slightly choked by the end but still chuckling to myself at the jokes. Colfer manages to make this obscure, slightly-cliche-yet-also-anti-cliche novel a personal, thought-provoking, pensive, and undeniably hilarious rollercoaster of an experience. The characters are relatable, understandable, yet almost definitely lovably flawed. This is a book I would undoubtedly recommend to anyone with a sense of humour, appreciation for wit, and immune to slightly vile language and themes.

I agree with anne1212, it was a nice book but there was way too much coarse language and vulgarity.

I read this book because Chris Colfer is one of my favourite authors after reading some of his other books (Land of Stories series). When I started to read this book, I was rather disappointed. The whole plot was unbelievable. I could handle the language and a few bits of inappropriate behaviour, but the story was so unrealistic and fake. It was about how there were four teens and each kid had a problem. Then this famous star from their favourite T.V show went on a road trip with them because one of the kids sent him a letter containing his actual name. The plot is terrible, to be honest. I believe the point of a story is to make it relatable to the audience. This novel was nothing like that. How are people that are transgender, gay, unhappy with a school, and someone who is in love with their best friend going to relate to the audience? I understand that this book celebrates diversity and uniqueness, but it seems fake that all of them have these problems. Also, I believe that someone like Chris Colfer, an inspiration to kids, might influence kids to do crazy things like these. I know that it isn't his fault if he wrote this book before the Land of Stories series, but just like me, kids might find this book and see the parts about weed and sex. Like in all honesty, I don't see how someone reads this stuff and goes like "Chris Colfer is the best person on earth!" I bet there are people like me who read this and their respect for him goes down. He's basically promoting the use of drugs in children. However, as much as I don't agree with the book, it certainly left a mark in my brain. It was well-written and some people will agree with the actions of the book. Stranger Than Fanfiction did make sense in the end but had questionable themes. This book is recommended for 13 and up. I am not an actual critic though, so this is my opinion.
