" 'Intense and vital... Ceaselessly compelling... Superb' James Wood, New Yorker /b> his is a book about leaving your wife and everything you know. It is about fresh starts, about love, about friendship. It is also about the earth-shattering experience of becoming a father, the mundane struggles of family life, ridiculously unsuccessful holidays, humiliating antenatal music classes, fights with quarrelsome neighbours, the emotional strains of childrens birthday parties and pushing a pram around Stockholm when all you really want to do is write. This is a book about one man s life but, somehow, about everyone else s too. A Man in Love , the second book of six in the My Struggle cycle, sees Knausgaard write of tempestuous relationships, the trials of parenthood and an urge to create great art. His singular insight and exhilarating honesty must be read to be believed. hortlisted for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize 2014."

Highly detailed, "experimental" writing which pulls the reader deeply into the life of the author. While it is about everyday experiences, the inner life is rich, intense and unsparingly honest. Some of the passages resonated so much, they have stayed with me for a long time after completing the book.

Knausgård is a fantastic writer who can make the most mundane incidents seem fascinating. What surprised me about this volume was how much humour there was in it. Highly recommended.

Not as good as the first book, but a very good read. He verbalizes what everyone else (I think) thinks. Guys his age will really identify with him.

A Man in Love by Karl Ove Knausgaard is rated by me as 5 stars. It is a truly brilliant book, filled with courage, angst, life and truth! One of Karl Ove's quotes is "Risking everthing is essentially what literature is about." Bravo Karl Ove, you have risked everything and you have produced a stunning book!
