this was an awersome book

The characters were flat, the premise was silly, and there were several holes in the story, but what ultimately finished me is this line from the MC when she's being chased by the bad guy:

'If she were a boy, maybe she'd have a rifle or at least a machete hidden away in her closet.'

WTH? About ten pages from the end I came to a screeching halt because of that line. Seriously? Do boys hide machetes in their closets?
