From one of the most beloved storytellers of our time, "Remembrance" is the last published story by Alistair MacLeod. A moving story about three generations of men from a single family whose lives are forever altered by the long shadow of war. An elegant, life-affirming meditation on how the present always comes out of the past, and how even in the midst of tragedy and misfortune there exists the possibility of salvation.

Poetically and elegantly written. This story has inspired me to read more written by this author.

A beautiful edition of MacLeod's last short story, about the effect of war on three generations. His ability to draw the reader in after only a few short pages is nothing short of amazing. A must for every fan of Alistair MacLeod.

I have loved this wonderful man's work. Although this short story didn't sweep me off my feet like his previous stories did, it was still a tender and touching tale, just the right size to read in one sitting. As with all of MacLeod's work, it was soaked in the atmosphere of Cape Breton.
