The second 3-episode installment of this popular dark-comedy-detective series with DCI John Barnaby, after the original inspector retired, cousin DCI Tom Barnaby. The new DCI had some tough shoes to fill, but I quite like the actor playing John Barnaby's take on the character: More subtle, analytical, Sherlock Holmes-like than his predecessor. There does seem to be a little under-the-radar tension between Barnaby and DS Jones. Not sure if it is intended for the characters, written into the screenplay, or the tension is actually between the two actors. Either is understandable, what with the retirement of the original DCI. A major change like that, it takes some time for things to settle down and the characters mesh. In any event, all three episodes are excellent. I guess my favorite of the three would have to be "Dark Rider" simply because of this dialog: DCI Barnaby, to witness: "I understand you saw a man riding a horse. And according to this report, you said this horse rider was headless. Is that correct?" . Witness: "Well, hmmm, yes, the rider was a bit, ahhh, ummmm, headless."

Each season keeps getting better and better. Love the interactions between Barnaby and Jones. A must see :)
