Presents the collecting opening arc of author's series that marries the magical realism of Sandman with the western brutality of Preacher. This book tells a tale of retribution as beautifully lush as it is unflinchingly savage.

Generally, I'm not a fan of westerns, and I prefer art with neat clean lines. But unusually sharp writing, strong characters, and a clever plot all kept my interest.

What in the heck did I just read? I love graphic novels but I really didn't understand this one. I could tell someone verbatim the story, but I didn't understand it at all. I found it very confusing and left more questions than it gave answers. I really did not enjoy this one.

This supernatural folklore western pulled me right in with its creative layered storytelling style and beautifully intricate illustrations. The layout of art in this was so well done with plenty of great action and movement captured....essential for a good western!

This is easily one of the best graphic novels I have ever read. Marrying fantasy, folklore, and westerns, Deconnick and Rios take you on a journey starting with Sissy and Fox as they are pursued by Death. The art is stunning, and the gritty storyline moves fast. Make sure you keep up the pace!

Love it! I've always been a sucker for wild west themes with fantasy overlays but this one is great. The tale of the Mason and his beautiful bride and their tragic love triangle with death, and the events its sets into motion. The writing is wonderful (it has a very well done fable/folk tale vibe) and the art work has a perfect amount of grit and edge to match the story. Can't recommend this one highly enough.

The art itself is lovely and this comic is worth a read for it alone. However, the story leaves something to be desired. Characterization and plot are very holey!

Fans of Neil Gaiman's Sandman and Garth Ennis' Preacher comics will find this dark Western appealing as it reveals the origin story of Death's daughter Ginny, a spirit of vengeance on the trail of an old man who wronged her mother. I half-expected to hear Ennio Morricone music when I opened its pages. Morricone scored the Clint Eastwood Westerns featuring the Man With No Name. Gorgeous, disturbing art creates an unsettled feeling as you track the characters through a world of magic and mysticism.

My favorite graphic novel this year. Stunning, beautiful, well-written Western/fantasy mashup with tons of ancient mythology thrown in. Read this now!

Pretty Deadly is an amazing story that throws together fairy tales and westerns. If you like female-led and character driven stories that don't pull any punches, read this! Kelly Sue DeConnick is consistent in telling excellent stories. She was nominated as best writer for the 2014 Eisner award for Pretty Deadly.

I don't usually read Graphic Novels so I had a hard time following this one, but I still appreciated the haunting illustrations and very interesting character development!
