We have read and listened to the Narnia books several times and never get tired of them! This was the first time listening to this one on audio thanks to our great library.

This is my personal favorite book in the Chronicles of Narnia series. I like it so much that I did a book report on it in school this year.

I loved the story as read by Kenneth Brannagh. It is the story of how Narnia began. I did not read it as a child, although The Chronicles of Narnia has sat on our family bookshelf for years. However my children read (and loved) it and my grandchildren have watched several versions of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I listened to the CD over two days while running errands. Very delightful. Wish that Kenneth Brannagh had narrated the rest. I will dust off my book and read it at my leisure now I have the time.... :)

Very enjoyable narration of a highly imaginative story. Never read these books as a child and am now planning on reading and or listening to the series by C.S. Lewis. I have been delving into his adult works and am very impressed with all of his writing so far. The intro to the Narnia series, The Magician's Nephew, clears up some of the mystery from his more famous book. I now know where the wardrobe came from and who the uncle is that the children go visit to find safety during the war. Only four hours long, this story entertained me for a few trips in my car and left me hungry for more.....

Great background to Narnia. I enjoyed the religious insights but I think a child would find this one less exciting than the rest of the series. I do think it's best to read it in the printed order instead of chronological order (aka this book would be #6) I think it gives it more meaning.

After years of all the movies and TV shows starting with "The lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" it was nice to listen to the very beginning and how it all started. Very enjoyable.

In my memory, I liked this one better than I did this time. But it is fun to revisit Narnia and learn how it all began. The Christian parallels are more meaningful to me this time around.
