Welcome to Little Wing.

It's a place like hundreds of others, nothing special, really. But for four friends -- all born and raised in this small Wisconsin town -- it is home. And now they are men, coming into their own or struggling to do so.

One of them never left, still working the family farm that has been tilled for generations. But others felt the need to move on, with varying degrees of success. One trades commodities, another took to the rodeo circuit, and one of them even hit it big as a rock star. And then there's Beth, a woman who has meant something special in each of their lives.

Now all four are brought together for a wedding. Little Wing seems even smaller than before. While lifelong bonds are still strong, there are stresses -- among the friends, between husbands and wives. There will be heartbreak, but there will also be hope, healing, even heroism as these memorable people learn the true meaning of adult friendship and love.

Seldom has the American heartland been so richly and accurately portrayed. Though the town may have changed, the one thing that hasn't is the beauty of the Wisconsin farmland, the lure of which, in Nickolas Butler's hands, emerges as a vibrant character in the story. Shotgun Lovesongs is that rare work of fiction that evokes a specific time and place yet movingly describes the universal human condition. It is, in short, a truly remarkable book -- a novel that once read will never be forgotten.

The town of little Wing is brought together (and town apart) for a very special wedding.

An easy read about 4 men and a girl who all grew up in a tiny town in Wisconsin. It is a story about true friendship that might last forever but for the one thing that could also tear it apart. It's a love story too and evokes a feeling that I might have known each of the characters, or at least I understood them and their motivation.

Four male friends and the woman whose life is entwined with theirs, share the narrative in this memorable, debut novel about life in a small American Midwest town, Little Wing, Wisconsin. Friendship, loyalty, conflict, hardship and triumph are described here in precise and evocative language that bring to life images that last long after the book is finished.

A clich├ęd look @ the lives of 5 lifelong friends from Little Wing Wisconsin, Nick Buler's novel is based on people in true life. That said, there is nothing imaginative or new here - no surprises & nothing to quicken the pulse. A quick read, but I came away uninspired, bored, & unchanged.

This book really explores men's feelings. It is a sweet book of friendship in a small town. The town of Little Wing, and the people who live there really comes to life. A nice book that really reflects on the lives of a group of friends, and the small town they grew up in.

Covers the lives of a group of friends from small town America. All lead different lives but are still very connected. It follows their hardships and their joy and the need for people who truely understand you. A lovely read. Just remember that the initial at the top of each chapter indicated who you are reading about. This could have been made clearer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about the four male friends. It really registers a reality about men who grow up together & go their separate ways. The author does a fine job of bringing realism to their lives as they fight, leave town, reunite, have difficult personal lives, but still are able to maintain the long term friendships. Although this is a novel for men, I believe women would also enjoy it.

I loved this book! Such incredible imagery in his words. Each time I picked it up, I felt like I was right back in Little Wing.
Read this book.. keep passing it on to others. It's one not to be missed, especially if you are from a small Midwest town. It feels like going home!
