Charlie West just woke up in someone else's nightmare.

He's strapped to a chair. He's covered in blood and bruises. He hurts all over. And a strange voice outside the door just ordered his death.

The last thing he can remember, he was a normal high-school kid doing normal things--working on his homework, practicing karate, daydreaming of becoming an air force pilot, writing a pretty girl's number on his hand. How long ago was that? Where is he now? Who is he really?

And more to the point . . . how is he going to get out of this room alive?

To softballchick2000: I think the sequel to this is called The Long Way Home. Just look up Andrew Klavan. Love this series!!!!

I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting. I think the message is great. "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never." The patriotism and strength shown in his faith are really refreshing. This seems like a fresh take on the dystopian/anti-government idea. I hope the rest of the series doesn't disappoint me.

One of the best books I have ever read. I can't wait to get the second book. It had a great ending, too.

I found the main character really not relatable and a bit irritating actually. I didn't even finish the book because it was too annoying

This is a very fast-paced, high intensity book. I liked it a lot. However, for people that read at a more advanced level such as myself, this book is just a little too simple. Instead, I highly recommend one of the best series I have ever read, "The Enemy" by Charlie Higson.
