"Goglu is a daydreamer with a young working mother, a disengaged stepfather, and a father who lives 5,000 miles away. Drawing, punk rock, and the promise of true independence guide Goglu to adulthood while her home's daily chaos inevitably shapes her identity. Susceptible is a devastating graphic novel debut by Geneviève Castrée about the heartbreaking loss of innocence when a child is forced to be the adult amongst grownups."--Provided by publisher.

If you can get past the murderously minuscule cursive script in which this entire graphic novel is penned, you have a quiet little winner to savor. There is nothing deeply profound in this story of a rather unhappy childhood but certain scenes ring true and may be long remembered. For me, those scenes involve the author/narrator's interactions with her high school counselors. They provide both a reality check and a hope, an "out", for her.

I would enjoy reading more from this author but upon searching further I learned that she passed from cancer in 2016, in her 30's, tragically young. Such a loss, and leaning of this loss, it made me all the more appreciative to have heard this author's story and voice.

A beautiful book from an Anacortes-based artist. Portrays miserable experiences coming-of-age, but never strays into the maudlin. It's worth a quiet evening to read this book, pull up her music videos (she recorded as O Paon), and remember her creative spark.

This book was affecting... Agree that the script was challenging to read, but it created a sensation of needing to be more intimate with the pages of this memoir, which really added to the experience of reading it. Very much enjoyed the storytelling and art...

The book is very well printed and bound, the images are okay if dark, but the type is hand written cursive script, and tiny, almost impossible to read. The story (such as it is), is not well told. The characters all look the same, and the narration is difficult to place to the adjacent images (above or below?)
