Gabby and Elliott have been happily married for eighteen years. They have two teenaged daughters. They have built a life together. Forty-three year old Gabby is the last person to have an affair. She can't relate to the way her friends desperately try to cling to the beauty and allure of their younger years...And yet, she too knows her youth is quickly slipping away. She could never imagine how good it would feel to have a handsome younger man show interest in her, until the night it happens. Matt makes Gabby feel sparkling, fascinating, alive, something she hasn't felt in years. What begins as a long-distance friendship soon develops into an emotional affair as Gabby discovers her limits and boundaries are not where she expects them to be. Intoxicated, Gabby has no choice but to step ever deeper into the allure of attraction and attention, never foreseeing the life-changing consequences that lie ahead. If she makes one wrong move she could lose everything, and find out what really matters most.

Light read for a hot summer day. Quite predictable. Recommended by Karalee.

A book about the fragility of relationships. One false move and your life is ruined! An easy summer read. Recommended by Fiona.

This author does an astounding job of pulling the reader into the life of Gabby, a level-headed and predictable wife of 18 years, who is swept away by the temptation of engaging into a one-time affair with someone half her age in an effort to spice up her dull existence. The aftermath of this love tryst takes one on an emotional journey with the main character as Gabby tries to hold onto her failing marriage brought on by infidelity while trying to maintain the respect of her two daughters after admitting to her wrong doings. Despite all of Gabby’s efforts to make amends for the damages this selfish act brought upon her family, things continue to spiral even further out of control with the news of the infant life growing inside of her body. The author’s careful attention to the small details of this story keeps the reader on the edge of his seat while awaiting Gabby’s final fate.

I very much enjoyed this book, it thoroughly held my attention as most all of Jane Green's books do :)

I found this book equal parts hopeful and unbelievable. It was well written, and I did find myself hooked. Definitely explores the ideas of forgiveness and acceptance. I was happy with the ending as well.
