Now in her twenties, Anne returns to Avonlea for the first time since Marilla's death. Gilbert is offered a position in New York and he convinces Anne to go with him. Big city life isn't what they expected. After her script is stolen, they travel from New York to the war effort in Europe and they eventually return to Prince Edward Island.

Everyone should see this movie at least once. Some of the scenes were filmed at Westfield Heritage Village in Rockton. Definitely a must see!

PBS is airing a new Anne of Green Gables movie on Thanksgiving night 2016. I'll probably watch it, but I'm not sure any Anne adaptation could be as good as this one. I recommend reading the even more wonderful book before watching this mini-series and/or the new movie. You will probably want to read the entire series, and you should. The mini-series and books are appropriate for all ages--don't dismiss them as being for children only!

One of the most beautiful literary film adaptations. I grew up reading the Anne of Green Gables series and the movies (mostly the first two) hold very true to the plot and feel of Montgomery's writing. I also firmly believe that Jonathan Crombie solidified my ideal of the perfect man from an early age.

My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. That's a sentence I read once and I say it over to comfort myself in these times that try the soul.

Gilbert: You know every day, I'd pick a different memory I had of you, and play it over and over in my mind till every hair, every smile... and every freckle was just as I remembered
