This book reveals, that while this series is dystopian, it is not quite as futuristic as every other dystopian novel out there. Arras was created as a result of WWII's nuclear warfare. Imagine if the results were much more disastrous than they actually were, and science had been so advanced as to be able to create a whole other world for people to escape to for safety. While hundreds of years have passed in Arras, only 16 have passed on Earth - making it 1960! How scientifically advanced this story is! I sort of scoffed when it was revealed that Albert Einstein was the brain behind the discovery of the weave and the creation of Arras, but other than that, this book was just as exciting as the first and certainly answered many of the questions that were raised in the first book.

Details, Details, Details. It all keeps coming and doesn't stop. Usually I'm one for an author and books with great detail, but reading everything here sort of felt like a chore. I wasn't as impressed with this, as I was with the first; which I couldn't put down; but which bares less excitement.

The story in this book of the series gets pretty complicated. We learn what happens to those whose threads are removed, the reality of time on earth vs. Arras, and bizarre family relationships. My attention is starting to wander, mainly because it's getting to be a bit too crazy. Hope the plots and characters are tighter in the next installment of the series.
