Directed by Ariel Vromen in 2012 based on the true story of longtime notorious hitman Richard Kuklinski, this crime thriller depicts the life of the cold-blooded killer.
I don't like the movie at all simply because there's too much killing without a meaningful drama.
I don't really care about any character in the film 'cause most of the characters appear disgusting.
Even a bad guy has some likable traits.
The director simply failed to depict those.

A good movie with Michael Shannon and the other actors are good too, and...yes, that's about it. There's something missing from the script and from the direction -- could it be truthfulness, as breemu mentioned? I can appreciate why the producers tried to make this more palatable, but it's a stretch. Maybe it would have been better not to make it at all.

It was an okay movie, stayed awake through the whole movie.

I'm a fan of Michael Shannon and he managed to make me feel a great deal of sympathy for this loathsome character - he had had an abusive upbringing, he had moral lines he wouldn't cross as a paid killer (i.e. he wouldn't kill women or children), and he cared deeply for his family whom he kept sheltered and separate from his criminal activities.

And what a crock all that is.

The movie does NOT portray just how loathsome Richard Kuklinski really was. He dated and married his movie wife while still married to another woman, he brutalized and terrorized his second wife and their children who lived in constant fear of him, and when he was captured and interrogated he claimed to have killed a number of random, ordinary people just for the fun of it in between paid hits for the mobs.

This movie is, sadly, a romanticized Hollywood fairytale of a really bad man.

great cast. weak story.

Dark, drab, slow moving but I found it a riveting exploration of the duality of the almost perfect family man who was a contract killer to pay the bills. James Franco should not have been on the DVD cover because he was barely in the movie.

The storyline is about the dual life of a contract killer. I had a lot of trouble with the storytelling method used by the filmmakers. I find the palette so drab (perhaps by choice of cinematographers). I admired Winona Ryder as her acting here is different from her usual style.

Not easy to find any sympathetic characters in this movie. Maybe someone can find some redeeming qualities about it but I didn't.

This was an OK gangster movie. Not much of an emotional movie, the lead character was very uncharismatic (hence the iceman) and all he ever said was how much his family means to him but never really showed it. Good performances by all but could have been better. A forgettable movie.

The most dangerous people are those with an abundance of money because they access elite power to manipulate the middle class people. There shall come a day when power shall be restored to the people and not singular people in power with influence of wealth and power.

Marty Freeman (after The Iceman points a Deringer at him): "No, no, no, no! God, God, God, please don't! GOD PLEASE! GOD PLEASE!" Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski: "What are you, prayin'?" Marty Freeman: "God please! Please!" Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski: "You really believe that? You think God'll come down and save ya? ...Ah-ight. I'll give you some time. Pray to God. Tell Him to come down and stop me."
