My copy growing up was from a rummage sale and the last page was torn out so I didn't know for the longest time about the very last page. I didn't get that wonderful final punctuation of a joke until much later, and I really love it.

One of my favorite books from childhood, kids will love defying Grover's pleas to stop turning the pages.

So much drama, so much tension! I could barely stand it as a child. Maybe that's why it's now one of my favorite storytime reads of all time.

I once, pretentiously described this book as a "brilliant postmodern piece," and I stand by my opinion. Grover maintains his lovable, furry old, melodramatic tendencies as he fights to keep his reader from turning the page so we can all avoid the dreaded monster at the end of the book prophesied by the title. Wow, he makes me melodramatic too.

This is a must-read classic for young children and their parents/caregivers. I've read many Sesame Street books, and this one is the best and most memorable.

For ages 3-5. Furry old Grover begs the reader not to turn the pages because there’s a monster at the end of the book. Don’t be afraid, however, as the monster is none other than Grover himself.

My all time favourite book from my childhood - and still love to read it to my son. Classic.

Kids will love helping to turn the pages of this fun book. This should become a storytime favourite.
