The reviews accurately capture my response. One additional plus: the loving descriptions of nature and the equally vivid description of eccentric but lovable characters such as his Texan aunt and uncle attempting, unsucessfully, to recreate their beloved Texas in Indiana, and Maude, who runs a diner in Santa Clause, IN and ropes in every driver who stops at gas station to answer children letters to Santa.
