Sometimes choices--like change--can't be avoided. A bittersweet story of love and family from National Book Award finalist Deb Caletti.

Cricket has a very long week ahead of her. Her entire family has come together for her mom's wedding, and it's supposed to be a time for celebration. But for Cricket, the timing couldn't be worse.

For years Cricket's been half of the perfect couple, destined to be together forever. Now, because of what she's done--something she would give anything to take back--Janssen has walked away. Maybe for good.

Cricket has always panicked in the face of change. Now she is forced to face her fears and decide once and for all what she wants, and how she's going to get it. For over the course of the week, secrets will be revealed, bonds will be tested, and Cricket's confusion--and her desires--may very well send her spiraling down a path she never thought she'd take...with no idea where it will lead her.

This story begins with a cliffhanger that will keep you reading until the end! I love the format of the book, how one chapter is a letter while the other goes back to the original plot, it develops the story in a more interesting way. Sometimes it gets confusing keeping track of all the events. Really enjoy the Cricket's love for dogs and how soulfully she describes her relationship with her dog, Jupiter. Her indecisiveness can be a bit frustrating, but overall was a very enjoyable read!

I'm not really a fan of Deb Caletti's early books, but the last 2 I really enjoyed (The Six Rules of Maybe & Stay) and this one is probably now my new fave! I do wish the boyfriend had a stronger voice in the story, but regardless, it was still really good. very "sarah dessen-like"

But as wedding attendees arrive for a week of festivities at a guesthouse whose hippie owners have a sweet, sexy son—Ash—complications arise:
Cricket’s future stepsisters make it clear they’re not happy about the marriage. An old friend decides this is the week to declare his love for Cricket. Grandpa chooses to reveal a big secret at a family gathering. Dan’s ex-wife shows up. And even the dogs—Cricket’s old, ill Jupiter and Dan’s young, lively Cruiser—seem to be declaring war.

While Cricket fears that Dan is in danger of becoming ditched husband-to-be number three, she’s also alarmed by her own desires. Because even though her boyfriend looms large in her mind, Ash is right in front of her....
