It's all about the Soy Sauce, a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.

Quite a hoot, even if the humour can be more than somewhat juvenile. I need to read the book now to see what they left out in the movie

Falls under the "Book was better" category, but well done all the same. Good way to have an out of the ordinary story and the characters reeling from all the chaotic elements.

Read the book first, or the movie makes no sense at all.

Kind of your standard American smalltown bro flick, except with a diabolical space-drug & frequent tumbles through the quantum void. The titular John is a young man in a world that's not his own, enduring with his best friend a lot of death-defying plot twists & funny nods to the Sam Raimi school of wacko horror. At one point we switch to animation so the screen can handle all the gruesome sci-fi monster gore, & the surprises just keep coming. The cop tries to make co-bro Dave "understand why I'm out here committin' felonies today." You'll understand, too! Enjoyed it. CR

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

I personally liked this movie, it was fun, different and very entertaining. This is the kind of movie most people will not like and not really appreciate. I liked it right off the top with the meat monster and how can you not love the character Bark Lee? Well, watch it and see for yourself.

The best description of this movie is that you will either love or hate this apocalyptic parody. I suggest that the book is read first, the movie to book difference is pretty much the same as The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy in content and tone.

Very boring and not very interesting. The plot of the movie didn't make sense and not very funny at all

I wasn't really sure what to make of this. Mostly I think I kept watching it because I was bored and was too lazy to stand up and turn it off. I was still bored while watching it, so consider that when you make your decision. It probably would have been funnier if some kinds of substances were being imbibed. By the way, David Wong, the author, is not really Chinese American.
