In this lively picture book, children discover a world of shapes all around them: rectangles are ice-cream carts and stonemetates, triangles are slices of watermelon andquesadillas. Many of the featured objects are Latino in origin, and all are universal in appeal. With rich, boisterous illustrations, a fun-to-read rhyming text, and an informative glossary, this playful concept book will reinforce the shapes found in every child's day!

I like this book because it's true.

Thong and Parra joyfully capture Hispanic-American cultural elements and use rhymed couplets sprinkled with Spanish to invite young readers to find more shapes in the illustrations. The bold, textured paintings are inviting and visceral, featuring primary colors on every page. Parra masterfully creates depth in his paintings with pictures you want to touch. A helpful descriptive glossary not only defines but also explains many of the Spanish words featured in the text.
