Teens who like books chock full of teen soap-opera level drama will have fun with this novel set in alternating POV chapters. I chose to read it because I'm a fan of Jenny Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before...this is not a readalike for that. Warning: it doesn't stand on it's own, the story arc will (presumably) culminate in subsequent installments.

I thought this book was going to be a cliche awful book because of some of the reviews that I read but it suprized me. The book had a lot of substance and intriguing plot twist. All in all very good book highly recommended.

Burn for Burn takes place on a small American island called Jar Island. It is about three girls, seniors in high school, who have been deeply hurt and are seeking revenge on their enemies.

Lillia, wants to get revenge on her so-called “best friend” Rennie, who has mistreated her for a long time. Throughout the book I began to hate Rennie for all the horrible things she did and the way she acted to people who respected her and treated her as if she was a Goddess.

Kat’s story is more typical as she wants to get back at a boy who she made the mistake of caring for. She also wants to hurt Rennie for treating her horribly all throughout high school.

Finally there’s Mary, who is more damaged than any of the others. She was also hurt, by a boy, long ago and it changed her life forever.

Lillia, Kat and Mary get together and plan to help each other get their revenge.

I liked this story because it wasn’t the typical teenage revenge she-slept-with-my-boyfriend type of story. The authors backed up each character’s hate with a legitimate reason from their past. Also, the girl’s schemes were very entertaining and funny.

I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun read. I also recommend continuing the series.

I'm always game for a good teenage-girls-seeking-revenge novel. I've found that when men seek revenge people will be "wow, he is so complex" but when teenage girls seek revenge we're just overemotional. That being said, I was hoping for a straightforward vengeance story with a sense of justice upon completion, for I hadn't realized this was a series when I started. I did enjoy it greatly, despite being surprised by the course of events, but I have great hope for the sequels. It was extremely entertaining and real and it made me despise Reeve with all my heart. The interactions between the girls were gripping and well written. Overall, very good.

rosy said that most probably ginga is parent, scientist, and a lyricist. she finds things better, and sayin a mode should be made for all of us.
she is delightful and normal. she is very abs to earth and nouty for bad people of this earth. that is all for every one.

It was pretty good! But thank god it has a sequel or else it would have sucked. I liked it but it left me unclear of many things like what was wrong with Mary. I read Fire with Fire and the book was even better! Buuut it still left me unclear on what happened with Mary, I think Ashes to Ashes is gonna clear that out. But overall I must say the book was reeeally good. Though it left me unclear at the end, through out my reading I was definitely hooked. So it was a good book, but I must say that Fire with Fire is way better! (hint hint!)

The book was pretty good right up until the ending. After I completed the book I just say there and tried to figure out what I had just read. Personally the ending stopped me from rating this book 5 stars because it just utterly confused me and stopped my positive emotions for this book. I guess I'll have to read the next one to see if it clears up my confusion.

Teenage girls taking revenge, I wouldn't want to piss them off or get in their way. This book centers around three teenage girls from a small island in the US. Each of the girls is from a different "clique" and each has different reasons why they want revenge. Kat, used to be popular and best friends with Rennie, before Lillia came to town permanently. Rennie decided that once high school was around the corner that she wanted to be popular and to rule the school, Kat wasn't too into the idea but was willing to go along with it, till the two girls got into a huge fight and Rennie refused to forgive Kat. Lillia and her money took Kat's place in Rennie's life. Kat being sick of Rennie and all that she now is seeks revenge on her, to put her in her place. Lillia moved permanently to the island just before high school, but her family would vacation on Jar Island before they moved there permanently as Lillia's family is very rich. What could Lillia have go so wrong in her life that she seeks revenge? Worried about one of her best friends making moves on her little sister she seeks revenge on him to put him in his place. Mary has returned to the island after being gone for years due to a tragic experience. She is unable to overcome her feelings and fears from this and wants to wrong the right, but did not think of revenge as the way to do it till Kat brings it up when they accidentally meet one night, the same night that Kat and Lillia were meeting up to discuss revenge. Can Mary bring herself to tell the other of the real problem? Can these girls each tell each other their real problems and reasons behind the revenge and what they seek to accomplish? Will the revenge work? Will they get caught? Will it work? So many questions and so many ways to go about their revenge, but what will have the most impact and how can they go about their daily lives as normally as possible to make it seem like nothing has changed?
