The FBI doesn't usually consult with music therapists to solve their cases. But Kendra Michael's astonishing powers of observation and analysis have made her a favorite of law enforcement agencies all across the country. She cares little for investigative work but can't deny her unique skill - or her results. Blind for the first twenty years of her life, Kendra learned at an early age to become hyper-aware of her surroundings, perfecting the art of picking up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her. Former FBI agent Adam Kyle, known as The Puppetmaster, has weapons of his own. He's a notorious master manipulator, skillfully handling criminals and colleagues alike to get the results he wants. Now he needs Kendra's special brand of help, but she's not interested until Kyle reveals that Agent Robert Stedler -? Kendra's ex - is missing and may have run directly into the path of a serial killer. W

I enjoyed the characters and relationships, the dry wit, the story, and especially the heightened awareness of our senses besides vision, such as sound and smell.

I love the character of Kendra Michaels. Johansen's development of a character who recently gained her sight is original and intriguing. Makes me wonder what details I miss in the world around me!

Agreed with Bluefarm and Dops. 1 Johansen got to drop the phrase and 2 the book is unexpectedly disappointing. I wonder may be she has run out of ideas. Check out her newer books. Some of them even worse.

I have read and liked Johansen for quite a while...but....during the Bonnie-Quinn series, I started noticing a small phrase that was overused...to the point where I started to dread seeing it...and it continued in this book...I know it seems pretty lame...but I read a LOT....always have....but never...NEVER...have SO MANY charactors spoken "with twisted lips"...or "with lips twisting" or "twisting his/her lips, he said" ...over and over...every charactor, at some point, is twisting lips...either she needs to fire her editor....or, just lose that phrase....I can not read any more Johansen....
