Rescued from unspeakable horror, Ishbel Brunelle has devoted her life to a Serpent cult that reads the future in the entrails of its human sacrifices. But the Serpent has larger plans for Ishbel than merely being archpriestess, plans that call for a dangerous royal marriage balancing on the edge between treachery and devotion, and an eerie, eldritch warning: Prepare for the Lord of Elcho Falling. And there are other dangers. For while Tencendor is gone, even its fall cannot destroy the Icarii. As the Tyrant of Isembaard reaches for glory, both StarDrifter SunSoar and his son, Axis, are pulled into the deadly dance of intrigue and sorcery. The DarkGlass Mountain--once known as the Threshold--is waiting, and as the Dark God Kanubai rises from his prison in exile, no one will escape unscathed.

DarkGlass Mountain - bk. 1

An excellent read, the chapters are short and captivate the readers attention.
Sara's characters are interesting and some twists are delightful in the anticipation.
Although, some twists are predictable, there are some that are not anticipated.
Romance and darkness intertwine to sweep the reader away into the characters world. I was spellbound and absorbed.
It is a simple read with intricate plots. The author slips into and out of the lives and doings of the characters and then combines their histories to come to a conclusive ending, leaves you wanting more!

"The deity was bronze, it was not capable of moving, but nonetheless StarDrifter thought he felt--or intuited--it snuggling against his body, almost as a small child would."

"A strange, but not unpleasing, warm sensation passed through Isbel's fingers and suddenly all the friendliness in Garth's eyes vanished."
