Never growing beyond two feet and eight inches, Mercy Lavinia "Vinnie" Bump spent much of her life in seclusion. However, when she impressed legendary showman P.T. Barnum, she suddenly became the world's most unlikely celebrity. In this fictional autobiography, Vinnie recounts her life, her travels with Barnum, and her wedding to co-worker and fellow tiny superstar, General Tom Thumb.

Fun, entertaining story (I didn't realize it was fiction at first) that makes you have a new perspective on life and history. I also am interested in learning about the real Vinny as well as Tom Thumb and Barnum.

I enjoyed the first 2/3, but then unfortunately Benjamin turned Vinny into a character that I had no sympathy for. Also, for some reason her relationship with Mr. Barnum made me in uncomfortable. I did enjoy reading it for the historical value though-novels about real-life people intrigue me these days. I knew nothing of General Tom Thumb and his wife before this. As always with these types of books, it does make me want to read more on the subject/characters.
