From the New York Times bestselling author of Shoe Addicts Anonymous and Always Something There to Remind Me comes a delicious new novel about the search for true love and all the ingredients that go into it.

As far as Gemma is concerned, her days of dating are over. In fact, it's her job to cater other peoples' dates, and that's just fine by her. At thirty-seven, she has her own business, working as a private chef, and her life feels full and secure. She's got six steady clients that keep her hands full.

There's Lex, the fussy but fabulous department store owner who loves Oysters Rockefeller and 1950s comfort food; Willa, who needs to lose weight under doctor's orders but still believes butter makes everything better; a colorful family who may or may not be part of the Russian mob; an überwealthy Georgetown family; the picture-perfect Van Houghtens, whose matriarch is "allergic to everything"; and finally, a man she calls "Mr. Tuesday," whom she has never met but who she is strangely drawn to.

For Gemma, cooking is predictable. Recipes are certain. Use good ingredients, follow the directions, and you are assured success. Life, on the other hand, is full of variables. So when Gemma's takes an unexpected turn on a road she always thought was straight and narrow, she must face her past and move on in ways she never would have imagined. Because sometimes in life, all you need is a little hope, a lot of courage, and---oh yes---butter.

Nothing memorable with speck of humor. When the "twist" was revealed, I felt it was one BAM!!!! at once, and that's it. It had me guessing, but not in a good way like leave it to the reader's imagination kinda way. Instead, this book felt incomplete to me.

Very predictable, but that didn't stop me from loving the story and enjoying the ride.

An entertaining bit of candy floss - fun while it lasts, but of no substance. The plot is predictable - I knew which happy ending we were headed to about 1/3 of the way into the story. Great summer read if you just want to be entertained by something light and sweet.

Cute story about a woman whose biological clock is running out. Her current profession is personal chef. She finds out her "one night stand" is one of her clients who she's never met face to face. Of course, it has a wonderfully happy ending!

This is chick lit a cut above the rest. I enjoyed Gemma's take on her career as a professional cook, working for a variety of clients (some were really from hell), and her interesting personal life. If you're looking for a breezy read with well-developed characters, this works better than okay.

Light fluffy read. A bit far-fetched and everything ties up too perfectly in the end. The romantic twist is way too obvious. Other than that, author has great sense of humor and keeps you wanting to turn the page.

I’m not going to lie: I picked this book because it has cupcakes on the cover. Surprisingly, this novel has nothing to do with cupcakes or baking.

Gemma Craig is 37 years old and still single. And that’s the way she likes it. She has her own business; she is a personal chef. As we read along, we meet her different clients (different for each day of the week) and sort of get a sense of Gemma’s cooking style and/or philosophy.

A one-night stand, an amorous client, and an unfortunate incident with a peacock lead to messiness in Gemma’s life, both personal and professional. Can she straighten out her life and keep doing what she loves?

I’m not quite sure how I would rate this novel. I read it quickly and enjoyed certain aspects of the novel. Unfortunately, the writing is uneven, and the tone changes abruptly within the narrative. One thing I know for sure: I would not recommend this to someone attracted to the overly cute cover.
