My life in the red dirt of Uganda... "Sometimes I want to spend hours talking with my best friends about boys and fashion and school and life. I want to go to the gym; I want my hair to look nice; I want to be allowed to wear jeans. I want to be a normal young woman living in America, sometimes. But I want other things more. All the time. I want to be spiritually and emotionally filled every day. I want to be loved and cuddled by a hundred children and never go a day without laughing...

Katie has a lot of enthusiasm for Uganda and her project is commendable, but I didn't pick up this book as a devotional. I could only bear two of the eight CDs. It really should be in the faith section rather than adoption. Also the CD starts with a poorly recorded telephone interview with the author, implying that one has already read or listened to the book. This should have been at the end CD.

A little syrupy-sweet and definitely overwhelming but an amazing story nonetheless

Kisses from Katie has such depth on so many levels that a short review can't begin to capture them all. This remarkable book reminded me that God's love and compassion are extravagant, that He asks us to forfeit everything - everything - that might otherwise supercede His call on our lives, and that being in the very heart of His will brings joy - not always happiness, not always understanding, not always fairness - but deep, abiding, fulfilling joy. Reading this book with an open mind and heart will suggest the need to realign certain perspectives and beliefs. I feel like this is a book I should read every year, to plumb it insights and to be reminded to continually ask myself the important spiritual questions it raises.
