I enjoyed this book..i still thought it was a good read, so many characters to have a part to play in when she is being sidetracked in other directions so you never know what is coming up.

'Don't judge a books by it's cover.'

Normally I take that to heart but in this case I figured what the hell? The cover looked cool- a young woman had fire shooting out of the tips of her fingers while she had a foot resting on top of a dead animals skull. She wore a leather outfit...in the desert, and had an intense gaze. I figured okay there might be some magic involved, and mostly likely the heroine(duh!) would have some sort of ability to wield fire. I read the back cover and it sounded like a promising light read with steamy sex scenes, a plot that had mystery and magic, a strong sassy heroine and a (sexy) male dragon. Great!

Now,I am normally a HUGE paranormal romance fan and I can fall into a book with a snap of my fingers and come out reasonably happy with what I've read but that was definitely not the case with this novel.

I'm not sure if it was the pacing of the story which I thought was slow, or the lack of chemistry between the characters(all of them) or the fact that Janet(The Heroine) spent most of her time whining about how she couldn't control her 'Beneath' magic, that made this books so...unreadable to me. But I found that I was forcing myself to continue reading, hoping that the novel would get better. Unfortunately it didn't.

Janet wasn't very strong, she wasn't very quick to get with the program and I felt like she relied too heavily on everyone else to help her rather than using her own gifts and whatnot. Mick( her lover) was in it but he was mostly there just for eye candy I suppose you could say. He had sex with her and then he left...only to show up again to rescue her or to have sex again.

!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!
He died at one point and I really didn't care, I just wondered who was going to replace him.
SPOILER END

There was no depth to any of the characters and the plot was too thin(almost non-existent), I kept hoping for something interesting to happen that would make me change my mind but that just never happened.
So I would not recommend this book.

This is a new genre for me, and I am a voracous reader, I tried for 3 days to get into this book. I think it was just the wrong speed or pacing for me.

There were multiple story lines and started and ended within the first 3 chapters, it was as if the writer was attempting to put too much information at one time.

A good introductory read for those just getting itno the type of reading. I have faith this author will only improve with practice and better editing.
