Jason Bourne. He has no past. And he may have no future. His memory is blank. He only knows that he was flushed out of the Mediterranean Sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues. A frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the flesh of his hip. Evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face. Strange things that he says in his delirium -- maybe code words.

A confused, disjointed plot, impoverished character development, compounded by an amateurish writing style. Boring. Take for example the book's opening sentence: “The trawler plunged into the angry swells of the dark furious sea like an awkward animal trying desperately to break out of an impenetrable swamp.” Beyond bizarre. Off base. Over the top. Out of bounds. B+ material at best in a high school English class. The book, it's a disaster. An insult to the English language. Save your time. If the basic plot idea interests you, about the spies, the passports, and how Bourne's amnesia is resolved, watch the movie instead.

The book is very different than the movie - they are basically two different stories with the only common element being that there is a highly trained guy with amnesia that has people after him. There are some important characters introduced and discussions that take place around disc 6-7 that you'll need to listen carefully to or the rest of the book won't make sense. The narrator of this audiobook is fantastic, with different accents and voices for the characters. One of the best narrator's I've listened to.

A totally new kind of action thriller. Better than the new Bond Movies.
