America's most-read, most-watched, and most#65533; beloved serial killer--Dexter Morgan--is back. After selling more than one million copies and inspiring the wildly popular #1 Showtime series and top-rated crime drama on pay-cable television, New York Times bestselling author Jeff Lindsay returns with his most hilarious, macabre, and purely entertaining novel yet.

Dexter Morgan has always lived a happy homicidal life. He keeps his dark urges in check by adhering to one stead#65533;fast rule . . . he only kills very bad people. But now Dexter is experiencing some major life changes--don't we all?--and they're mostly wrapped up in the eight-pound curiosity that is his newborn daughter. Family bliss is cut short, however, when Dexter is summoned to investigate the disappearance of a seventeen-year-old girl who has been running with a bizarre group of goths who fancy themselves to be vampires. As Dexter gets closer to the truth of what happened to the missing girl, he realizes they are not really vampires so much as cannibals. And, most disturbing . . . these people have decided they would really like to eat Dexter.

Jeff Lindsay's bestselling, dark, ironic, and oftentimes laugh-out-loud hilarious novels about the lovable serial killer with no soul (but a redeeming desire to kill only people who deserve it) have gained a legion of fans and assumed a place in our cul#65533;ture.

Dearly devouring delicacies

We open to find that Rita has given birth! Dexter has a daughter of his blood— and Brian comes back to town, to ingratiate himself with Rita and the kids. Dexter finds himself resenting Brian, and protective of Lily Anne, the daughter he dotes upon.

Meanwhile, vampire club and cannibals? What is Miami coming to?

Two teenage girls go missing, and it becomes a race to find them, especially after a barbeque in the woods.

Interesting and twisted as always, but weird to see Dexter developing such a conscience – parenthood can do strange things to all of us.

I think this is my favorite Dexter of all. As much as I like the uniqueness of the character and the oddness of cheering for a serial killer devoid of human emotion... this one is about Dexter becoming human, not because he's about to die (which he is, several times) but because he becomes something he never imagined: a father. And as corny as his emotions are as he absorbs them, he becomes more relatable. He is no longer a meticulous killer on the path of the Harry Way, he is a man of vengeance watching the world to save the innocents on his own. I like that!

I enjoyed the book but it got a little campy compared to others and a lot of the "twists" were obvious and could have easily been solved much earlier (why did no one EVER check the folder on the computer that Dexter oh so subtly mentioned on a whim?)

Dexter is Delicious is far from the best in the series, but following the divisive Dexter in the Dark and the generally tedious Dexter by Design, its new life into an increasingly long-winded series.

Dexter is a surprisingly likeable character for a serial killer. If you don't like that idea, don't read this series. If you do and don't mind a bit of gore this is a fantastic series!

Dexter Morgan: blood spatter analyst, brother, serial killer...father?! Believe it or not, Dexter is the proud father of a baby girl, and it occupies his mind wholly. Oh no! As if Dexter didn't have enough balls in the air, now a familiar one is thrown into this ever growing juggling act.

A little too grusome for me. I feel so bad for the girl....how did she even get that way?

Cannibals and vampires? Surely that's old hat. Can we move on?

"... and for several long heartbeats the sight of her is louder than any song the moon could sing. Lily Anne..."

I wondered if I should have read my horoscope--perhaps that would explain what was going on. It could well be that somewhere in Miami really knowledgable people--druids, perhaps--were nodding their heads and murmuring, "Ahhh, Jupiter is in a retrograde moon of Saturn," and pouring another cup of herb tea while they lounged around in Birkenstocks.
