you've got to remember though, they thought that the locust were destroyed for the second time, and that there are roughy 2.5 to three years between Gears of War 2 and 3, so what it is doing is fillingin the gaps

This is the story after Gears of War 2. It's a story about the COG trying to find a new home after the events in the game. There are also several flashbacks to the events surrounding E-day and the choices that the COG administration had to live with.

To my disappointment, this story had barely anything to do with the Locust Horde, no mention of the Lambent and had everything to do with Stranded and the tall task of rebuilding humanity. There was not much action in this book and it seems the purpose was to flesh out some of the relationships and other parts of Gears lore.

This story has barely any impact on the game's storyline and can be skipped.
