this book is just ok. it jumps right into paragraphs of french with a few words defined in the margins to help the reader, but that's it. so it would be pretty challenging for someone who is truly a beginner.

the book gets harder every few pages and at least for me, I need more practice than that before I am ready to move onto a new level. so I read as much as I can in the book but then I have to put it down and study elsewhere before I am ready to move on.

honestly, this book is more educational than entertaining and there are a lot of charming picture books out there that I would much rather read. the first section is especially boring. I feel that this book is better for review than actual study.
