I felt like I was baited and then the content was switched. I kept reading this disgusting book because I hoped to find out what happened to the girl with amnesia. Frustratingly, I had to endure reading about pig farming and slaughtering scenarios. I wouldn't have felt so suckered if both the animal mishandling was addressed as well as finding out about the heroine of the story. If I would have known what the book was REALLY about, I would never have borrowed it! What I wish I had done was gone against my practice of not spoiling the story by reading the ending, early on. I like mysteries but will never read another Martha Grimes book again! Totally unsatisfying!

Grimes never solved the central mystery of the book: who was Andi, the central character, and what happened to cause her amnesia? I was left hanging which made me feel very dissatisfied.

This was a real page-turner. There were only one or two chapters that were not as interesting, but the story is golden.
