Since discovering the Canadian Flyer, a magical time-traveling sled, in Emily's attic, Matt and Emily have outrun dinosaurs in the Alberta badlands, panned for gold in the Yukon, and joined Leif Erikkson on a journey to Vinland. In Flying High!, Emily and Matt land on the shores of the frozen Bras d'Or lake in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, in 1909. There, amidst a crowd of astonished onlookers, they watch with wonder as Alexander Graham Bell's Silver Dart takes to the skies. It's an exciting eyewitness account of the first powered flight in Canada. In this, the fifth book in the popular Canadian Flyer Adventures series, author Frieda Wishinsky weaves well-researched and accurate historical facts into her compelling, kid-friendly storytelling, while Dean Griffith's evocative illustrations situate readers perfectly in place and time. At the end of their adventure, Emily and Matt share additional facts about airplanes and Alexander Graham Bell, and Wishinsky gives additional facts here too, in an informative Q&A format.

This book was extremely awesome!!! I can imagine myself sitting in the Silver Dart! I'm pretty sure this was quite an adventure for Emily and Matt! (I also like the book because of naughty littly Ruby. lol:)

Try this fun historical series by Canadian author Frieda Wishinsky! If you loved Magic Tree House books, this series is for you. Emily and Matt have magical adventures on the Canadian Flyer, a magic sled found in Emily's attic.

This series is similar to Magic Treehouse - which my son loved at this age. My daughter however seems much more taken with this set of books.
