Former Vice President Al Gore's New York Times #1 bestselling book is a daring call to action, exposing the shocking reality of how humankind has aided in the destruction of our planet and the future we face if we do not take action to stop global warming. Now, Viking has adapted this book for the most important audience of all: today's youth, who have no choice but to confront this climate crisis head-on.

Dramatic full-color photos, illustrations, and graphs combine with Gore's effective and clear writing to explain global warming in very real terms: what it is, what causes it, and what will happen if we continue to ignore it. An Inconvenient Truth will change the way young people understand global warming and hopefully inspire them to help change the course of history.

Climate science deniers of the conservative Heartland Institute refuted in these articles: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/category/organizations/heartland-institute..... The so-called Independent Women's Forum (IWF) has a similarly conservative political agenda ..... see ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_Women%27s_Forum ... neither could be considered impartial scientific observers. ..... Perhaps the explanation for their perverse stance can be found in “The Republican Brain – the Science of Why They Deny Science – and Reality” ... by Chris Mooney .... or ..... “Climate Denial – Heads in the Sand” .... by Haydn Washington

An excellent response to much of the propaganda and flawed information in this video comes from European filmmakers, Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, in the excellent documentary, "Not Evil, Just Wrong." http://www.noteviljustwrong.com/General/educational-resources.html

"McAleer and McElhinney debunk what for a time was the environmental movement's most powerful weapon of disinformation, the infamous "hockey stick" graph that attributed a supposedly unique burst of warming in the 20th century to humans. They also shatter the myth that the hottest years in the United States were 1998 and 2006. The hottest year was 1934, and the hottest decade was the 1930s -- when there were half as many people and no SUVs or jumbo jets."

They interview notable scientists who debunk Gore's claim of catastrophic global warming -- scientists like M.I.T. professor Richard Lindzen, former founder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore.

The Heartland Institute in Chicago has done excellent work taking a critical analysis of all the claims: http://heartland.org/issues/environment

And here is a WSJ op-ed where scientists signed showing there is no compelling scientific argument for the hysteria.

97% of the scientists agree with Mr. Gore. 3% disagree with Mr. Gore. The problem with our media is that both sides get equal time, not 97 to 3. Just with this mere fact, voters not knowledgeable about the science, are convinced think the probability of climate change is 50-50, not 97-3. I saw the video version and thought the presentation went step-by-step demonstrating that climate change is real, is man-made, and is extremely dangerous to our environment. The presentation of the facts in graphical form was unbelievably good. The good news is that the president has the legal power to protect the environment. The better news is that the president is using the power to protect the environment, albeit at a slower pace than climate scientists would like. The bad new is that the Republican Congress will not make polluting corporations pay a tax to compensate for the damages they are producing. Mr. Grover Norquist has made the Republican Congressman sign a pledge that taxes on the wealthy will never be raised, not even to inhibit big corporations from polluting the environment.

In reply to commenter EuSei, I just assumed only cavemen still deny anthropogenic climate change, my apologies. You see, there are these things called peer-reviewed papers, and there are studies on such papers. And these studies seem to suggest denial of anthropogenic climate change is in the single figures, if not in the decimals. For example, Anderegg et al. (2010). Farnsworth and Lichter (2011). John Cook et al. (2013). Also in 2013, National Science Board member James Lawrence Powell investigated peer-reviewed climate articles between 1991 to 2012: 13,950 articles in total, 24 deny anthropogenic climate change. There's also the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). And read the assessment reports by United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). What about the United States National Academy of Sciences? National Academy of Engineering? National Research Council? Institute of Medicine? I think the problem is your so-called evidence merely criticizes Gore, or the details in this 2006 film (I would expect errors in the details, it would be amazing if science didn't fine-tune itself). Or perhaps you're reading all the propaganda that seem to trace back to big industries like Shell and Koch. I just don't see enough reason to buy the denial, forgive me.
