I first heard of this album when I heard Paul Anka's version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit". I liked it because it is such a funny departure from the original, and because I could understand the lyrics for the first time. I still like his swing version of "Teen Spirit", but I also was never really into Nirvana in the first place. I think the songs work better if you are not familiar with the original one. I also think power rock ballads just don't translate well to swing. Listening to the entire CD mainly made me want to hear the originals. As I mentioned, there were songs that I knew but didn't know the lyrics to so it was interesting to find out what Lionel Richie was singing in "Hello". Overall, it's a cute concept but not something you'd probably listen to over and over.

I heard Paul Anka's rendition of Smells Like Teen Spirit on CBC and, although there was nothing wrong with it per se, I can't imagine who the target audience is supposed to be. It was weirder than Sid Vicious singing "My Way". There were a couple of other decent re-worked covers but this is more like something you would play once to others than a standard for your ipod.
