A very good musical, great cast and songs. You will laugh and cry watching this. We are still singing the songs.

VERY GOOD 2007 film which kept my interest throughout. Interesting East Village setting and a fine cast - I particularly enjoyed Idina Menzel.

A really good movie with many characters to fall in love with and fun catchy music. It deals with topics that often are not your typical broadway themes hence why it ran for so long. Really loved it!! EF

Vapid dialogue and meandering plot but I really liked the music
and the breaks between songs are mercifully short. Incorporates
a lot of pop music styles without sounding like second hand knockoffs.

It was pretty good. I found that I really got emotional towards the end, which I honestly don't do much with movies, and the music was fantastic. I kinda didn't like how they acted like Angel was a transgender woman but then randomly towards the end called her a drag queen and had characters refer to her as "him", maybe it can be chalked up to how transgender women often used to have the same terminology used for them as drag queens, and so since this was trying to portray late 80s life, they didn't want to update the terminology? Apart from my confusion over that, it's a pretty good film.

I missed the inital Broadway show. I have missed the revival. But this DVD makes up for it. I became engaged in the film from start to finish. This movie hooks you from start to finish. I even sang along with some of the songs sans song sheet. A real treat.

This movie is a heartwrenching look at life in New York. Incredible acting and singing. One of the best music soundtracks of all time. Rent has everything in it. It is a movie with no boundaries that really shows a true feeling of love in all forms and the lonliness and challenges of living with AIDS but also the courage and deep connections that can come out of it. If you love musicals this one is at the top of the list.
