My father took me to see "Prince Valiant" at the Radio City Theater, a spectacular building that took on its own special look that no other theater could equal. Stars Robert Wager, 24, Janet Leigh, 27, James Mason, 45, Sterling Hayden, 38, Debra Paget, 21, and Victor McLagen,68, had me watching with big eyes and a brain that bulged with visions of my own exploits were I living in the days when knights were bold and maidens fair. Robert Wagner was very fit and very athletic. The sword fight between the Valiant and Breck is actually quite lengthy and impressive for James Mason at nearly twice the age of Wagner. But where did the Black Knight hide his horse and armor? He seemed t appear in costume so quickly.
Based on this film, I'm surprised Robert Wagner had any kind of acting career to speak of. His acting is terrible. Then again, this whole movie is a bit campy. James mason makes a high improbably knight. Having said that, it's also fairly entertaining.
Good action story! Well acted! Good for all ages! Not to violent! Love story strong without too many sex scenes. Worth watching.
